The opportunity
Our Audit Quality and Risk Management group (AQ&RM) is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as an Analyst. The AQ&RM group helps ensure the Firm and its personnel are in compliance with Professional, Regulatory, and KPMG risk management policies and procedures. The Compliance Analyst role will primarily focus on compliance with the application of risk management policies and processes for the audit practice, with a primary focus on maintaining and enhancing controls related to the annual quality performance review and involvement in other audit risk management initiatives. The incumbent must be comfortable collaborating with stakeholders of all levels in executing projects and possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
What You Will Do
  • Provide support on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis to audit risk management teams.
  • Respond independently to basic audit risk queries and questions from engagement and QPR review teams and escalate complex queries in accordance with the applicable reporting lines and in a timely manner.
  • Run reports from QPR systems and apply various data analysis techniques in analyzing and presenting the data for use in risk management projects and processes.
  • Work collaboratively with a dynamic team to maintain internal compliance systems and execute on general audit risk management projects.
  • Support the Risk Compliance team in the documentation and testing of various controls in the firm’s System of Quality Management.
  • Assist in preparing risk management guidance and training materials for system end-users and as part of the annual QPR program.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of risk management processes and various monitoring controls to ensure they continue to operate effectively.
  • Provide support to the Manager, Audit Quality and Risk Management in managing the Quality Performance Review (QPR) Program for the audit practice for KPMG Canada. This includes the planning and scheduling of annual engagement reviews, analyzing and reporting of findings to senior leadership and the Global Audit Quality Monitoring Group and collaboration with the Department of Professional Practice in the determination of remedial actions for function-wide issues.
  • As part of a team, perform Root Cause Analysis on audit quality issues identified through regulatory reviews, QPR and other monitoring programs and activities of the firm.
  • Draft, edit, and send a variety of communications to regional professional practice leaders and QPR review and engagement teams with a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
What You Bring To The Role
  • Prior experience in a large professional services firm or similar environment, including experience in audit or audit risk management, is an asset.
  • Proven track record of teambuilding, relationship management, and dealing effectively with Senior ManagementAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Possess advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, data analytics and automation tools such as the Microsoft Power suite would be an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to respond to inquiries with professionalism, attention to detail and generate high quality deliverables.
  • Must be very organized and methodical with the ability to analyze and interpret information, in a way that is open, honest, consistent and clear.
  • Ability to efficiently process urgent requests.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess advanced Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot and DAX skills (VLOOKUP, pivot table etc.).
  • Experience with and ability to maintain confidentiality of data.
  • High aptitude to learning new systems/technology.
  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize and effectively deliver on multiple competing priorities and fluctuating workload.
  • Post-secondary education, preferably in a business-related field.
This is a remote/hybrid position.
This position requires written and oral fluency in English. The successful candidate may be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues or stakeholders while at KPMG.
