Position Summary:

The Algorithm Development and Test Engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team focusing on charge profile development and analysis. This position will involve analyzing requirements, developing battery charge algorithms, specifying battery testing, and reviewing and analyzing test data for correct operation and adherence to product requirements.

Specific Duties:

• Facilitate battery testing and perform battery workshop maintenance when required, including moving batteries.
• Attend meetings with customers, battery partners and Delta-Q customer facing teams to discuss charge profile performance or requirements.
• Ensure the test workshops 5S policy is maintained.
• Keep skills up to date and keep the software department up to date with testing trends.
• Other duties as required.
• Develop, manage and test charge profiles, while reviewing data to identify issues using statistical analysis and validation techniques.
• Create design documents and customer documentation for charge profiles, and review those designs against requirements.
• Participate in Delta-Q’s problem resolution report process and explore ways to solve problems and improve process and procedures.
• Analyze customer and battery manufacturer requirements to identify issues.

Requirements

• Knowledge of a software development lifecycle.
• Ability to work effectively on an individual basis and in a team.
• Knowledge of a programming or scripting language to script test programs, create test cases, and develop algorithms.
• Experience working with flooded, AGM lead acid and lithium batteries.
• Ability to understand battery data sheets and basic schematics.
• Keen interest in continuously expanding knowledge in battery technologies.
• Previous experience in the practical use of communication protocols and using them to communicate to products.
• Consistently exhibit and model Delta-Q’s company values (Collaboration, Perseverance, Innovation, Driving Results).
• Education in related discipline, or equivalent knowledge and expertise gained through work experience.
• Proficient in operating lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, data acquisition units, electronic loads, power supplies and AC sources.
• Experience with CANbus tools, diagnostics, and logs.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.

The following skills would be beneficial:

• Knowledge of CANOpen and J1939.
• Experience using a SW configuration management tool such as Git or Subversion.
