Job Description

CultureSmith has partnered with a TARA Energy Services on their current search to add new Operations Accountant to the group. This position could be located in Calgary, AB or Grande Prairie, AB

the energy industry across North America, and is a leader in safety, quality, and the environment.


Summary:

The Operations Accountant reports to the Director, Finance & Accounting and is responsible for coordinating the accurate and timely entry of project data and the reporting and analysis of both project and operational performance. This includes accounts receivable, subcontract management, time entry, purchasing, accounts payable and month end reporting. Collaboration with the project management team is critical to ensure an accurate, timely, and complete view on project performance and profitability.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the accuracy of revenue and direct cost accounting for TARA’sCanadian and U.S. operations.
  • Take reasonable care to protect his/her health and safety and that of other workers by followingTara Energy’s safety policies & procedures, as well as government and industry regulations.


Operations Accounting

  • Review and approve monthly revenue accruals.
  • Prepare month end reporting and analysis on revenue and direct costs.
  • Assist with inventory reconciliation, tracking and counts.
  • Reconcile monthly billings to Fieldcap revenue ticketing system.
  • Assist with annual audit requests.
  • Prepare profitability reporting and review it with Project and Operations Managers.
  • Prepare accounting for inventory, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly forecasts.
  • Design and report on profitability by job and operating division.
  • Assist with preparation of annual revenue and direct cost budgets.
  • Other ad-hoc duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Work closely with Management to provide relevant information to allow for decision making,asset purchases and identification of profitability improvement opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between corporate accounting and operations.
  • Prepare labour cost reports and analysis.


Accounts Receivable

  • Work closely with Project Management and Sales teams to complete field ticket processing through to invoicing and resolve issues as necessary.
  • Assist with other AR and KPI reporting as required.
  • Understand and assist with training on the full cycle Order to Cash process.
  • Approve accounts receivable invoices.
  • Act as a back-up for Accounts Receivable Analyst.
  • Work directly with customers to resolve any ticketing or invoicing issues.


Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills including advanced level Excel.
  • Potential travel to the U.S. if required.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a project accounting role, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
  • CPA designation or working towards CPA designation with equivalent experience.
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Experience in a full cycle accounting and reporting environment would be an asset.
  • If located in Calgary, must have the ability to travel to Grande Prairie and job sites as required.
  • Hands-on experience with major ERP systems. Oracle NetSuite preferred.
  • Proven relationship building capabilities and a collaborative working style–strong team player with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Estimated travel is once per quarter.
