Demonstrate knowledge of culturally competent care by recognizing and respecting the client’s unique physical, cognitive, psychological, cultural, social, and spiritual needs.

Previous experience in Long Term Care is preferred but not required

Ability to manage multiple task and prioritize quality care

Working knowledge of Resident Care and Medicine Administration

Certificate or Diploma in Health Care Support from a recognized college

Current registration and in good standing with the Alberta Health Care Aide directory

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Create and facilitate activity plans for each week, plans must include risk management,

Complete any other tasks as requested by the Residential Operations Manager.

Knowledge of developmental needs and of dealing with difficult behaviours

Problem solving skills in and out of high stress situations

Organized, strong communication and coordination skills

Be a skilled verbal and written communicator with basic computer skills;

Knowledge / experience working with residents who have a diagnosis of complex medical needs.

Recent experience working with in the general programs an asset.

Demonstrate flexibility and a satisfactory employment record including completion of mandatory annual education

Directly accountable to the Program Manager and under the direction of the nurse.

Responsible for attending mandatory education and recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.

Health Care Aide certificate from a recognized health care aide program and are registered on the HCA Directory.
