Vehicle Maintenance Helper Jobs

Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry best practices.

Previous experience in a maintenance or related field is preferred but not required.

Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems is desirable.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Must be good with tape measure and have basic math skills

Work on a bus route and local

Use on hand, power tools, hoists and cranes

Use different forms of measurement - calipers, micrometers, etc

Assist with routine maintenance and projects.

Supports Operations with; driving shuttles, snowmobiles, and OHVs, freight pickups and deliveries, washing company vehicles and other duties as required.

Shoveling of snow around entrances and buildings.

A person with a lot of mechanical knowledge

Daily cleaning and maintenance of turners, screens and conveying equipment.

Daily cleaning of accumulation around all screens.

Clean up outside around bins and screen while system is running.

System Mechanical and Electronics (PLC’s) repairs.

Proven mechanical aptitude and skill set.

Perform miscellaneous labour activities to help tradespersons, apprentices and other workers as directed.

Maintenance of a variety of machines and tools with limited supervision.

Move tools, equipment and other materials.

Read and interpret work orders, instructions, as well as basic understanding of drawings and blueprints.

Clean work areas and equipment.

Good working knowledge of automotive and heavy truck parts

Knowledge of Health & Safety (i.e. WHMIS) regulations and other applicable legislation an asset (i.e. Highway Traffic Act)

Minimum high school (Grade 12) diploma or equivalent

Ontario Motor Vehicle Mechanics Licence, class 310T

Ability to understand and document procedures (SOPs) in English language

Ability to use PC, Microsoft Office

Maintain required records, reports, statistics, in accordance with policies and legislative requirements.

Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing environment.

Basic electrical understanding and knowledge.

Conduct predictive and preventative maintenance on all equipment.

Maintain, troubleshoot and repair minor electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.

Must have CMMS knowledge and be familiar with Building Automation Systems, pneumatic and DDC controls.

Must have experience with a wide range of mechanical, electrical, controls, life safety/fire safety equipment.

Experience working in a Unionized Environment will be considered an asset.

Completion of other tasks as assigned by the Chief Engineer.

Has to be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

Special consideration will be given to individuals with specific training in Johnson Controls BAS equipment.

Experience and working knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance

5 years Transit/Fleet experience with 2 years Supervisory experience; preferably in a unionized environment

Knowledge of workplace safety standards, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Highway Traffic Act, Employment Standards Act and other applicable legislation

Good communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills in a diverse community

Valid Certificates of Qualification – Trade licences (310T – Truck and Coach)

Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration or related discipline

Maintain required records, reports, statistics, in accordance with policies and legislative requirements

3-5 years experience working as a ‘jack of all trades’ in a heavy industrial environment

Previous work experience with conveyor systems, balers and compaction equipment

Experience welding and cutting including some fabrication

Basic electrical understanding and knowledge
