WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER:

Must commit to work for CPKC for 1 year or the signing bonus will be repayable

Work in either train or yard service depending on their seniority

Carry out specific instructions detailing a train's route and specific movements

Provide input in the development of a Safety Management System dealing with the regulatory regime.

Your Rules Qualification and Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) certification will be considered as an asset;

Your English communication skills are excellent.

Provide on-the-job training and coaching for Train Operators and assists the Training Supervisor in the development of follow-up training as required;

Be the liaison with Transportation Safety Board and Transport Canada inspectors regarding train operations and accident/incident investigations;

You hold a Secondary School diploma;

Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager

Must attend conductor training and meet all requirements for conductor certification andre-certification

Manage for steady improvement in safety of all T&E, Mechanical, and Engineering employees.

Accountable for full understanding of business requirements and service commitments.

2 or more years of supervisory experience in Rail Operations

Must meet color vision and hearing requirements as described in FRA Regulations

Writing and passing safety and rules exams. (Note: As per collective agreement, subsequent mandatory Locomotive Engineer qualification to retain seniority/employment.)

Completion of college or vocational/technical school and/or Freight Conductor experience

Relevant work experience in similar working conditions or regulatory/safety environment

Working Conditions And Physical Requirements

Ensuring compliance with all train orders, signals, railroad rules and regulations related to safety and operations

Providing and receiving various forms of oral and printed instructions concerning the movement and placement of rail cars

Knowledge of applicable Safety Management, front-line transit operations, safety programs, transportation planning, and policy development would also be assets

Minimum six (6) years’ experience in heavy rail commuter operations, with direct involvement in customer service

Investigates accidents, incidents, complaints, regulatory issues, and claims involving GO trains operated by the Train Operation Services contractor

Responds to the scene of incidents, including pedestrian and vehicle accidents, derailments, rules violations, and other incidents impacting GO service,

Required team management experience, and experience dealing and negotiating with customers, good communications and interpersonal skills.

Time management and reporting skill. Sense of urgency / priority.

Hierarchical Reporting: Services Engineering Manager

Functional Reporting: PrEM (Project Engineering Manager)

Allocating requirements and mechanical interfaces to Sub-Systems/equipments (Allocated volume, weight, location, etc.)

Reporting on TD activities progress, anticipating issues (capacity, skills, rule applicability, etc.) and alerting if needed.

Writing and passing safety and rules exams. (Note: As per collective agreement, subsequent mandatory Locomotive Engineer qualification to retain seniority/employment.)

Completion of college or vocational/technical school and/or Freight Conductor experience

Relevant work experience in similar working conditions or regulatory/safety environment

Working Conditions And Physical Requirements

Conductor Training Class - No Railway Experience Required!
