Senior Protection and Control Maintenance Engineer Jobs in Ontario

Complete document control, submissions and management;

Experience performing electrical and telecom drafting and application of the fundamental skills and use of drafting equipment;

Familiar with engineering standards, manufacture’s drawings and meridian document management system;

Coordinate project work with the team lead, other engineering disciplines and project manager;

5-10 years or more protection and control drafting experience;

Complete engineering designs and drawings packages by using AutoCAD;

Manage contracts or act as a single point of contact for general and specialized electrical engineering services

Must hold a 4-year University degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent level of education;

5+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer

Prior experience working in Hydroelectric generating stations

Prior experience working in an industrial Power Systems or Utilities organization

Experience with Electrical Power Apparatus and Protection and Control Systems

Meet with appropriate personnel to discuss the various features, matters of concern and reach a mutual understanding as to the requirements.

Maintain an awareness of advancing technology in the field of protection and control and utilize such knowledge in assigned work areas.

Minimum 2 years of experience. Experience in the utility industry is an asset

Technical savvy: Experience with SAP, Relays, Multimeter is an asset

Knowledge of P&C equipment (asset)

Knowledge of OHSA an asset

Advise the Discipline manager on project staffing requirements.

Manage designs and deliverables of other designers, reviewing their engineering designs for accuracy, quality, and compliance.

Previous experience in Transmission and distribution, power generation, consulting engineering fields, and renewables/sustainable industries.

Carry out with the assigned team, all engineering and design works of electrical power Transmission and Distribution.

Perform protective relay calculations, fault studies, and coordination for up to 500kV substations and transmission lines.

Create protective relay settings for the protection and monitoring of transmission lines, distribution feeders, transformer banks, capacitor banks, and station buses.

Manage projects onsite throughout the duration and effectively interface and own the relationship with customers and their vendors.

Experience desired with the following:

Experience with IEDs: SEL 2032, SEL 421, 311A, 311B, 311C, 311L, 734, Bitronics, ION 7350, Qualitrol TTL 1000

Experience with test sets and software: Doble 6150, ASE 2000 Test Kit, Arbiter, Protest, RTS, Megger MPRT & EZ CT 2000

Experience with relays: SEL, GE, MICOM, AREVA, ALSTOM: Line Differential, generator protection, transformer protection

Perform function testing of substation control circuits on relay panel, transformers & circuit breaker change outs.

Carry out such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Engineering Manager.

This position requires interfacing with clients, owners, consultants and construction crew and therefor strong oral and written communication skill is essential.
