Senior Aquatics Biologist Jobs

Assist in coaching and developing on an ongoing basis; ensuring skills are enhanced and weaknesses diminished.

Post-secondary education in Physical Education, Recreation Leadership, ECE diploma or related field preferred

Minimum 6 months experience working with children

Completed and current specialized Certifications include:

YMCA and/or Red Cross / Lifesaving Instructor certification preferred

YMCA Aquatic Fitness Certification or equivalent preferred

High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification, considered an asset

Exceptional customer service and communication skills

Plan, organize and deliver high quality safe and stimulating program for all levels of participants.

Keep current with industry trends and class formats

Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation

Provide a high level of front line customer service including greeting and engaging participants

Support preparation of wildlife assessments for EAs/EISs and associated management plans in compliance with applicable federal, provincial/territorial requirements.

Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.

10+ years of environmental consulting experience; prior experience in government, and/or mining or oil and gas sectors are considered assets.

Statistical analysis skills an asset or the ability to liaise with and direct work with our statistics group.

Experience with offset/compensation planning an asset.

French language skills an asset.

Senior level responsibilities could include Field Coordination and Project Management

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit

Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC)

Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment

Writing environmental management and protection plans, environmental effects assessments and effectiveness monitoring plans, and habitat offsetting plans;

Delivering high quality, well-written reports on time and within budget, drawing upon technical and scientific knowledge, training and experience;

An undergraduate or graduate degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Ecological Restoration or other relevant natural resource management related field;

· 8+ years of experience consulting in fisheries/aquatics and project management.

· Consulting skills: project management, client service, verbal and written communications, and business development skills.

o experience deriving management conclusions from data (for example through statistical, narrative-based, or qualitative approaches), and

· Conducting Project Management and managing client and regulatory communications.

o strong expertise and demonstrated experience engaging with fisheries-related challenges across western Canada,

o Experience utilizing a variety of tools to evaluate fish presence and habitat quality, including:

Excellent communication skills, to communicate technical information to key stakeholders including project managers, regulators, and clients.

Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation gained through formal studies or practical experience.

10 years of relevant experience.

Experience designing, leading, and conducting wildlife programs and with designing curtailment plans for wind power facilities.

An advanced understanding of ecological methods and statistics and demonstrated experience interpreting complex datasets.

Familiarity with survey requirements for renewable energy development projects in other Canadian jurisdictions.

6 months of customer service experience

1 year coaching and/or swim instructor experience

1 year of lifeguarding experience

6 months of head guard or supervising experience

Responds to Member inquiries about Life Time programs, products, services, policies, and procedures

Must be able to travel and work remotely for durations of up to 2 weeks at a time.

Estimated Annual Salary: $100,000 to $145,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

Have a minimum of 10 years of consulting and/or industry experience providing biology services in BC.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

Leading and growing our new biosciences division, with the support of a team of other senior environmental professionals.

Mentoring and growing a team of qualified staff to enable the division to succeed.
