They also work with engineers, architects, and other professionals to ensure that the plans are feasible and meet all safety and environmental regulations.

To become a Principal Transportation Planner, you must have a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, civil engineering, or a related field. You must also have experience in transportation planning, including experience with public transportation systems, traffic engineering, and land use planning.
