Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably as a Patent Assistant with excellent knowledge of the full patent prosecution practice.

Proficient in Microsoft Suite of products (WORD, Excel and Outlook), working knowledge of IP docketing and billing software.

Prepare office action responses based on client instructions and lawyer guidance and file finalized office action responses.

Review and report prosecution documents.

Monitor and follow up with appropriate parties on deadlines.

At least 3+ years of experience as a lawyer/patent agent

Graduated from a recognized Paralegal Program or equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered

Previous experience in intellectual property, specifically in areas of patents and industrial designs

Knowledge of Patrix IP Helpware is an asset

Strong communication skills (oral and written)

Strong teamwork skills, problem solving skills and attention to detail

Provide support in patent portfolio management, including patent portfolio evaluation, due diligence, and licensing negotiations;

Assist in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in Canada and abroad, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and maintaining accurate records;

Strong knowledge of intellectual property laws, patentability criteria, and patent prosecution process.

Proven experience in conducting patent searches and analyzing patent documents.

Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex technical information.

Work with outside counsel in the management of Kinaxis’ patent portfolio.

Strong relationship-building and influencing skills and the ability to prioritize business requirements appropriately through a collaborative partnership approach

Detailed knowledge of subject-matter eligibility at the USPTO and the European Patent Office

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving abilities

Conducting trademark searches and drafting trademark registrability options.

Drafting and negotiating patent licenses.
