Mental Health Streamlined Access Worker Jobs

At least two (2) years of experience working in a related environment or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Direct experience in the community social services sector with a working knowledge of community support agencies and resources is preferred.

Diploma in a related Human or Social Services field.

Emergency First Aid with CPR Level C.

Complete the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check.

Two years' recent, related nursing experience relevant with the designated client population or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Comprehensive knowledge of nursing science theory, and practice within a client and family centred model of care.

Comprehensive knowledge of the BCCNM standards for Nursing Practice.

Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate the development of critical thinking and clinical decision making skills in others.

Recent, related experience of two years In a Mental Health setting

Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and ASIST certifications would be considered an asset

Demonstrates awareness of own cultural values and biases, diversity and individual beliefs and experiences

Demonstrates practical skills for enhancing cultural safety

Has knowledge and understanding of major types and recovery-enhancing interventions/approaches and their contributions to recovery

Provide supportive counselling, demonstrations, behavioural management to assist with the development of physical, social, emotional and life skills.

Knowledge of the Mental Health Act as it applies to the rights and obligations of residents and staff.

Participate in case planning with clients; interview clients to identify problems and needs and work with clients to determine appropriate care.

Act as an advocate to assist clients in resolving conflicts and other problems with external organizations.
