Experience with interviewing skills, suicide risk assessment and group facilitation

Knowledge and experience with brief intervention models such as Motivational Interviewing/ Solution focused models

Two years’ (post BSW) experience working with adolescents at-risk, community resources, harm reduction and substance use

Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based health promotion programs and initiatives for youth at-risk for substance use and/ or mental health problems

Knowledge of Harm reduction and adolescent substance use

Knowledge of mental health risks and problems for youth

Provides personal care and/or assists clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, prosthetics and elimination.

Monitors client safety and assists with feeding of designated clients.

Provides one on one personal care and observation of designated clients as directed by the Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN).

Escorts clients off unit for treatment or diagnostic procedures; transports clients utilizing mechanical aids such as wheelchairs and/or stretchers.

Assists care team with routine search of rooms and client belongings in order to maintain unit safety.

Assists clients with retrieval/storage and/or relocation of personal effects to different rooms within the unit.

Compiles, maintains and submits computerized and manual statistics for Manager as assigned.

Knowledge of general office procedures.

Schedules client intake and assessments, maintains wait lists and completes client general intake information. Ensures admission forms are complete.

Enters information into the client electronic record system, which includes pre-admission, admission, registration, transfer and discharge information.

Processes physicians' orders and makes requisitions to Pharmacy for supplies as needed.

Requests, collects, receives, organizes and restocks supplies, equipment repairs and maintenance work for the program as per established procedures.

Demonstrated working knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation, its concepts, principles & practice.

Demonstrated group and individual intervention skills.

Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and health related support services.

Listening and information seeking skills that promote communication and leads to a cooperative approach to problem solving within a multidisciplinary team.

Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills.

Provides client advocacy services with other agencies, services and service providers.

Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately reports unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.

Working knowledge of violence de-escalation and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to facilitate group therapy and educational sessions.

Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPP).

Provides short-term brief interventions, monitoring, and evaluating treatment outcomes as required.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of community resources and health related support services.

Ability to support implementation of education based on changing practices e.g. legislation and technology.

Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software, hardware and remote/virtual technology applications.

Provides input into the development of a comprehensive orientation program, in collaboration with the Educator and other clinical staff.

Promotes staff awareness and involvement in research/evaluation activities and special projects and participates in research and special projects as appropriate.

Participates in the review, development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-informed clinical decision support tools/policies.

Ability to employ aggressive behaviour management techniques.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Ability to exercise judgment in keeping with program philosophy, when supervisor is unavailable for consultation.

Must hold a valid BC Driver's License and if required, must be able to obtain a class 4 Driver's License.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
