Skills, Experience & Education Requirements

Post-Secondary Education in Quality Assurance or Food Science

Previous food manufacturing experience is required

Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and team working skills

Collect and evaluate incoming materials and finished goods against standards

Maintain & document clear, concise and detailed records or product inspections and findings on all associated QA reports.

Post-secondary education in food science, microbiology, or a related field is preferred.

Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, including the Food Safety Act, O. Reg. 31/05 Meat regulations, SQF and HACCP principles.

Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Conduct routine inspections of the production line, equipment, and facilities to identify any deviations from food safety protocols and regulations.

Perform regular checks on raw materials, finished products, and packaging materials to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Allergen check on process as outlined in the HACCP requirements.

Inspect raw material, products and reports any deficiencies and off-spec product to Quality Assurance Manager.

Past experience in a food manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

Perform pre-operational inspection on operating equipment in the mixing production before handing off for start-up.

Monitor production/ mixing process and personnel GMP practice.

Participate in internal and external quality audits and operational review.

Advises the Plant Manager regarding the timeliness of the inspection and document preparation that may be required

Conducts capability studies on new processes and systems as set up by the initial sample runs/PAPP requirements

Advises the QA Manager of any non-confirming products, processes or measuring instruments

Coordinates the sampling as required by the furnace charge report or the process standard

Experience in a fast-paced working environment where time management, organization and problem solving were key skills.

Degree or diploma in biology, biotechnology, pharmacology or related field (or equivalent working experience).

Working knowledge of Good Documentation Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices and Cannabis Regulations as asset.

Experience reviewing and revising regulated documents.

Experience working in an ISO:9001 or GMP environment considered an asset.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs.

General computer skills (e.g. MS Office / Inventory Management systems).

Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;

Working knowledge of knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations;

Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
