Required Education, Credentials And Experience

To order and safe keep drugs and narcotics and administer in compliance with all regulatory requirements and Revera policies and procedures;

To facilitate and provide resident/family education ;

To respond to and manage significant changes in residents’ condition and or medical emergencies;

Knowledge of detoxification/withdrawal management, abstinence/harm reduction models of service for geriatric patients with substance use disorders.

Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of theory and practice to a case management.

Three (3) year’s recent related experience working in geriatric mental health and addictions or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Individual counseling and education and support to promote integration and continuity across the care continuum

Coordinates community resources and provides educational programs as required.

Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues via consultations, in-services and presentations.

Broad knowledge of behaviour management and ability to utilize non-violent crisis intervention strategies in a trauma informed manner.

Demonstrated case management, teaching/training, clinical support and consultation skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Broad knowledge of facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution techniques and demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.

Knowledge of the principles of recovery and trauma informed practice.

Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centred model of care.

Knowledge of BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice.

Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated ability to apply chronic disease and/or primary care management and health promotion principles.

Demonstrated skill in physical assessment and chronic disease management.

Knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.

Support patients and families to achieve and maintain optimal health by performing the following duties and responsibilities.

Comprehensive knowledge of BCCNM standards of practice and guidelines for registered nurses.

Knowledge of indigenous cultural safety, culturally safe principles and practices of person and family centered care, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction.

Provide client care by using the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, and counseling

Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities

Perform routine and specialized nursing duties (as qualified) in accordance with company policies and procedures and Standards of Nursing Practice

The Work You Will Do

Maintaining up-to-date professional and technical knowledge by completing/attending educational workshops.

Infusion certification or equivalent experience a must

Identifying patient care requirements; educating and providing counseling.

Reporting adverse events in accordance with manufacturer specific requirements, Health Canada and INVIVA policy.

Maintaining knowledge of medical therapies as per Health Canada’s Product Monograph.

Maintaining knowledge of INVIVA policies and procedures.

Five (5) years recent related experience in an appropriate area of clinical practice within a large complex health organization.

Experience using a variety of software applications including presentation, word processing, spreadsheet and databases.

Comprehensive knowledge of issues in relevant service area including current trends, best practices and modalities of treatment.

Utilizes strong critical thinking skills when making decisions, resolving issues/conflict.

Demonstrated ability to manage and resolving conflict.

Demonstrated skills and ability to facilitate team building and to work both independently and collaboratively.

Basic Education And/or Experience Requirements

At least 1 year of clinical experience as a RN working in an area noted above, with an IV nursing certification.

Attends and/ or completes required training modules, in-services and continuing education to maintain competency and professional licensure.

Current certification in Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals.

Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients.

Working knowledge of all infection control procedures and safety precautions.

Certification in Reproductive Health (STIs) with the BCCNM is required.

Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client-centered approach.

Knowledge of Community development and health promotion principles and practices.

Broad knowledge of BCCNM Standards for Practice for registered nurses.

Broad knowledge of HIV/AIDS, STIs and communicable disease control.

Broad knowledge of mental health (including the Mental Health Act) and substance use including current pharmacological approaches to substance use treatment

Broad knowledge of behavior management and ability to utilize non-violent crisis intervention strategies.

Demonstrated case management, teaching/training, clinical support and consultation skills.

Broad knowledge of facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution techniques, and demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources and other health care professionals/providers to achieve excellence in client-centred care and education.

Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centred model of care.

Broad knowledge of BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice for Registered Nurses or Registered Psychiatric Nurses.

Proficiency with computer skills & applications including complete Microsoft Suite, internet browsers, Learning Management Systems, Web-based classroom & discussion boards

Current experience with program and curriculum design and revision of classroom, skill/simulation and on-line teaching; and practical assessment methods required

Certificate course or CNA certification in Medical/Surgical nursing required

Certificate course in adult education and/or leadership development education or equivalency required

Minimum two (2) years' full time nursing experience within the last 5 years in Medical/Surgical nursing required

Demonstrated recent professional development relevant to maintaining currency in practice and education

Comprehensive knowledge of health care disciplines and their role in chronic disease management and care procedures/processes.
