Power Engineer in this key position

operation of recovery and power boilers

generators, recaust and kilns, and primary water treatment and effluent plants

supervise an operating crew on 12-hour shifts

BC or Interprovincial 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate

Grade 12 plus three years' recent related experience in a second class industrial plant.

440V, 4160V and 12800V transformers and switchgear

Responsible for diagnosing and rectifying mechanical & electrical plant faults, ensuring all statutory requirements are maintained.

Lighting (Small installation, Fault-finding, Lamping, etc)

Complete fault finding & repair of a range of electrical & mechanical plants & equipment.

Effective servicing, fault diagnosis & repair work of HVAC equipment to current standards.

BMS System - Monitor (i.e. Hot & cold)

Carry out all aspects of M&E/Fabric maintenance

Skills, Abilities, And Other Requirements

Experience within a TSSA-regulated ammonia plant

Extensive experience on HVAC/R systems

Must have experience working as an operator in an ammonia plant

Strong troubleshooting and interpersonal skills

Good oral and written communication skills

Strong knowledge of gas turbine co-generation and plant air systems

Minimum 2-5 years' experience in a similar industry, including routine maintenance

Strong computer skills including advanced practical application with Excel and ABB / DCS as well as exposure to PLC's

Operate the Co-generation safely and efficiently, including reacting to emergency situations

Perform general maintenance & repair activities

Assist with support functions including Co-product processing, Waste water treatment and other interdepartmental needs

Keep your technical training knowledge and skills up to date

Current working knowledge of general maintenance and engineering work

Experience in the Maintenance Department of a large hotel, hospital, ship, and/or restaurant complex or similar

Perform day-to-day routine and preventative maintenance within the hotel rooms

Respond promptly and efficiently to any maintenance calls that arise

Execute the preventative maintenance schedule and ensure all equipment and designated areas are maintained to the required standard

Prior hotel experience is preferred

Shift work including overnight  

This is a physical role and requires continued standing, climbing ladders, walking etc.

Must be able to able to lift and move up to 100lbs

Maintaining an organized work area/shop 

Ability to work in Canada

Keeping close check on the proper operation of all equipment in buildings under the Building Management System;

Advising the Assistant Manager or Lead Hands about problems which are considered to be outside of his/her scope of operation.

Providing accurate details of routine monthly surveys and meter readings of equipment and facilities;

Carrying out assigned inspection and preventative maintenance of all equipment, as per preventative maintenance work orders (i.e. Service Now);

Answering and responding promptly to all trouble calls or alarms during off hours and weekend shifts;

Responding to calls from Campus Safety to correct emergency situations and problems on off shifts, weekends, and after hours;
