Overview Health Information Coordinators are responsible for managing and maintaining patient health information in accordance with legal and ethical standards. They ensure that all patient records are accurate, complete, and secure. Health Information Coordinators also provide support to healthcare providers by providing access to patient records and other health information. Detailed Job Description Health Information Coordinators are responsible for managing and maintaining patient health information in accordance with legal and ethical standards. They ensure that all patient records are accurate, complete, and secure. Health Information Coordinators also provide support to healthcare providers by providing access to patient records and other health information. They may also be responsible for coding patient records, preparing statistical reports, and managing the release of medical information. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Proficiency with computers and software programs
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work independently
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field
• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting
Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
• Knowledge of healthcare data management systems
Job Experience
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting
• Previous experience with medical records management
Job Responsibilities
• Maintain patient health information in accordance with legal and ethical standards
• Code patient records using standard classification systems
• Prepare statistical reports and other documents
