Overview A Geographic Information Systems Analyst (GIS Analyst) is a professional who uses geographic information systems (GIS) to analyze, manage, and present geographic data. GIS Analysts are responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting geographic data to create maps, reports, and other visualizations. They use GIS software to create and maintain databases of geographic information, and to analyze and interpret the data to create maps, reports, and other visualizations. Detailed Job Description GIS Analysts are responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting geographic data to create maps, reports, and other visualizations. GIS Analysts must be able to interpret and analyze geographic data, and be able to communicate their findings in a clear and concise manner. They must be able to work with a variety of stakeholders, including government agencies, private companies, and non-profit organizations. Job Knowledge
GIS Analysts must have a thorough knowledge of GIS software and applications, data collection and analysis methods, cartography and map-making, database management, statistical analysis, and geographic information systems. They must also be familiar with the principles of geography, including physical geography, human geography, and environmental geography.
Job Experience
GIS Analysts should have at least two years of experience working with GIS software and applications. They should also have experience working with data collection and analysis methods, cartography and map-making, database management, statistical analysis, and geographic information systems.
