Overview A Gateway Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network gateways and other related equipment. They are responsible for ensuring that the network is secure and functioning properly. Detailed Job Description A Gateway Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network gateways and other related equipment. They must be able to configure, test, and troubleshoot network gateways, routers, switches, and other related equipment. They must be able to install and configure network security systems, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and virtual private networks. They must be able to diagnose and resolve network problems, and provide technical support to users. They must be able to monitor network performance and security, and make recommendations for improvements. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of network protocols, such as TCP/IP, UDP, and ICMP
• Knowledge of network security systems, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and virtual private networks
• Knowledge of network monitoring tools, such as Wireshark, Snort, and Nmap
• Knowledge of network troubleshooting techniques
• Knowledge of network hardware, such as routers, switches, and gateways
• Knowledge of network topologies, such as LANs, WANs, and VPNs
• Knowledge of network operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, and Unix
• Knowledge of network management tools, such as SNMP and NetFlow
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose network problems
• Ability to install and configure network hardware and software
• Ability to provide technical support to users
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• Certification in network security, such as CISSP or CCNA Security
• Experience with network gateways and other related equipment
• Experience with network security systems, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and virtual private networks
• Experience with network monitoring tools, such as Wireshark, Snort, and Nmap
• Experience with network troubleshooting techniques
• Experience with network hardware, such as routers, switches, and gateways
• Experience with network topologies, such as LANs, WANs, and VPNs
• Experience with network operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, and Unix
