In partnership with the HR Compliance Manager;

Sound knowledge of all applicable legislation (Occupational Health and Safety Acts, AODA and other Accessibility legislation) and HR policies and practices.

Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to prepare written reports, work plans and presentations.

Excellent facilitation skills and the ability to lead committees and collaborate with teams across departments.

Experienced in the development and delivery of health and safety programs and training, including conducting needs and risk assessments.

A Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) designation with the International DM Standards Council is an asset.

Assesses workplace exposure to ergonomic risks and provides recommendations on interventions such as engineering controls, administrative controls, and training.

Performs job task analyses and advises departments regarding changes to job design and practices that will reduce the risk for injuries.

A Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in a health discipline such as Kinesiology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or Occupational Health Nursing.

Demonstrated ability in occupational health nursing program development and implementation.

Ability to maintain confidences of personnel and health/safety matters

Demonstrated ability to operate a PC utilizing MS Office software applications and familiarity with using assorted database software

Ability to work independently and within a team framework demonstrating initiative

Demonstrated ability to work under time constraints, with multiple priorities

Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form

Recommends strategies and initiatives to management based on regulatory requirements, industry standards and organizational needs

Demonstrated knowledge of workplace wellness, health promotion strategies and adult education theories

Workplace Safety and Insurance Board claims management

Support the Manager with leadership development opportunities for the organization – training, case consultation; compile program metrics/evaluation reports; community partnerships

Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in promoting and leading wellness programs, within a unionized environment preferred

Experience in conducting research, including the analysis of statistical data and trends

Knowledge and abilities in project management and data analysis to ensure wellness initiatives are planned efficiently and desired goals are achieved;

Knowledge of fatigue management concepts.

Diploma in Social or Health Related education, Nursing or related field, or a combination of education and experience;

Knowledge and abilities to work within a wellness team to effectively deliver and support the health promotion programs;
