Ementoring Indigenous Initiatives Manager Jobs

5-7 years of demonstrated experience working in a management role, preferably in the public sector.

Experience in program planning and management.

Provide regular updates and briefings to senior management and Councilors on the status of the City’s Youth Strategy.

Always use effective resource and expense management to meet corporate policies and guidelines.

Understanding Project Management Principles and foundation are an asset.

Develop and implement detailed plans and recommendations regarding employment and volunteer opportunities and program-specific requirements.

Good communication skills, including presenting and training abilities.

5+ years experience in Consumer Packaged Goods.

Distributor and / or Supplier experience required.

Demonstrated skills as a change agent and collaborator.

Fluent in English; additional French language skills an advantage.

•Experience running projects/initiatives and governance, process management and analysis, facilitation skills.

Project management qualification or similar or exposure to tools.

•Creating new processes/systems in response to business requirements, develop, implement and roll-out.

•Strong communication and presentation skills.

Develop, implement and evaluate new initiatives and programs geared towards improving Indigenous students’ educational experience;

A Master’s Degree in Education, Leadership, Indigenous Studies or a related field or equivalent as determined by the hiring manager.

Significant experiences with Indigenous cultures, communities and organizations and experience working with Indigenous communities, Elders and Knowledge Keepers.

Enhancing academic programming for Indigenous learners and Indigenous knowledge transmission for non-Indigenous people;

Facilitating the embedding of Indigenous Knowledge and values throughout the College.

Support the work to increase pathways to education for all Indigenous learners. (i.e., Pathways to Indigenous Empowerment);

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Plans, manages and executes special events (learning sessions) pertaining to Indigenous topics.

Develops and implements Indigenous strategic plans, goals and objectives, including overseeing the implementation of UBC’s Indigenous Strategic plan within eMentoring.

Recruits Indigenous mentors from UBC and other post-secondary institutions within British Columbia.

Develops partnerships with other units, both within and outside of UBC, that support Indigenous students.
