Director Of Athletics And Recreation Jobs

Excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills.

Three-year diploma or degree in Sport Management, Sport Business Management, Commerce.

Minimum of three (3) years experience in Business Administration

Experience in post-secondary athletics is an asset

Excellent written, verbal communication skills.

Performs financial analysis on revenue and expenses, including statistical, historical reviews and financial record keeping.

Project management experience, including managing large capital projects considered an asset

Experience in asset management and facility condition assessment

Supervises and coordinates the day to day activities of department staff, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and maintaining accurate time/attendance records

Assists the Director with the planning and project management of capital projects

Proven organization and effective time management

Manages the daily operations of the department, ensuring assigned work activities, projects, and programming are met

Researches and drafts fundraising proposals for senior management for presentation to donors;

Ensures that appropriate donor recognition, acknowledgement and stewardship programs are in place;

Develops unit analytical reports as requested by manager;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills. Effective computer skills.

Proven ability to interact effectively and positively with staff, managers and donors.

Works in partnership with senior management to facilitate maximum private and public sector support for the unit;

Develops and implements a plan for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects and donors;

Develops and implements strategies for closing major gift solicitations and coordinates staffing for major gift solicitations;

Ensures that appropriate donor recognition, acknowledgment and stewardship programs are in place;

Generates donor/prospect solicitation materials and correspondence;

Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge of management and operation of recreation facilities and equipment;

Post-secondary diploma or specialized training related to business, economic development or recreation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Ability to teach, train, and lead physically active programs and activities, including specialized training to offer programming (e.g.: fitness certifications).

2+ years of related working experience

Considerable knowledge in developing and administering recreation and youth programs and working knowledge of the rules of a variety of sports;

Experience working with a municipality is preferred
