Demonstrated skill in cultural competence and knowledge of culturally appropriate community resources for those with addictions/concurrent disorders

Computer skills essential, experience with Meditech and Catalyst an asset

Minimum three yearsexperience in counselling to those who have a substance use disorder and problem gambling required

Experience supporting family members and those involved in providing support to the primary patient required

Demonstrated skill in addiction assessment (e.g. GAIN-Q3 MI ONT) and treatment

* Proven experience in providing group-based services including psycho-educational, process, and therapy-based group modalities;

* Proven exceptional interpersonal communication and organizational skills;

* Demonstrated confidence and experience in applying therapeutic principles to practice;

* Demonstrated experience in program development and analysis;

* Sound knowledge and application of research designs, implementation and data analysis;

* Exceptional knowledge of community resources and provincial communities of practice;

Experienced completing comprehensive assessments and formulation to help inform treatment planning

Possesses strong clinical, organizational and documentation skills

Minimum five years of clinical experience working with individuals living with Substance Use Disorders and/or Concurrent Disorders.

Extensive training and experience providing time limited, evidenced based treatment, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.

Solid individual and group psychotherapy skills required and essential.

Knowledgeable with data collection tools.

Provides skill-enhancement through role modelling and general instruction.

Lived experience of addiction and recovery and active involvement in a 12-Step program for addiction required.

University degree or College diploma in one of the social sciences or a health-related discipline, or the equivalent in work experience.

Completion of course-work for certification as an Addiction Counsellor is required.

Screening, assessment, and intake of individuals referred to the program for treatment, to determine their suitability for our program.

Frequently and regularly assesses client's progress.

Demonstrated skill in and experience with motivational interviewing/therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Broad knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.

Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in group dynamics, individual counselling and family therapy.

Comprehensive knowledge of substance dependence and concurrent disorders.

Broad knowledge of psychopharmacology (indications and side-effects), trauma informed practice, and chronic disease such as HIV and Hepatitis C

Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills required.

Requirement to be competent and skilled with utilizing video conferencing technology (zoom, Microsoft Teams, doxy, OTN) and knowledge of shared drives/folders

Manage and meet targets for a clinical caseload and maintain direct service requirements.

Clinical work experience with youth

Clinical work experience ideally in substance use treatment including intake services

Broad knowledge of behaviour management and ability to utilize non-violent crisis intervention strategies in a trauma informed manner.

Demonstrated case management, teaching/training, clinical support and consultation skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Broad knowledge of facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution techniques and demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.

Knowledge of the principles of recovery and trauma informed practice.

Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centred model of care.

Knowledge of BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice.

Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and teaching skills.

Demonstrated judgment, good observation and client assessment skills, tact and empathy in working with addiction clients.

Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
