Assistant operator Jobs

High school education – minimum Grade 10.

Experience in the production and distribution of power.

Basic computer skills are an asset.

Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language, and culture.

Operates the plant ensuring all safety and emergency equipment are maintained in accordance with applicable standards.

Conducts plant checks as required to ensure there are no issues requiring immediate attention.

Assist with emergency & spill response;

Removal & disposal of hazardous waste;

Confined space, working at heights.

Securing and safely loading/unloading vehicles with equipment and supplies;

Secure work area and set up traffic control;

General safety knowledge, experience and awareness

Safely operate equipment in an industrial setting

Professionally represent GFL and provide exceptional service to all clients

Participate in GFL’s safety programs including: safety meetings, last minute risk assessments and job hazard assessments

H2S, Confined Space Entry and Fall Arrest required prior to start date

Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform high labour intensity tasks in a team environment

Minimum of two (2) years working and driving experience;

Fall Protection/Working at Heights and Confined Space experience an asset.
