Good judgement skills in high-pressure situations

Experience with Topcon and Trimble positioning systems

Operate skid steers, rollers, milling machines, pavers and/or screed

Transport raw materials, finished products and equipment throughout site manually or using powered equipment

May assist with minor repairs and maintenance

Participate in daily Pre-Production Meetings

Electrical and welding experience for equipment repairs and maintenance.

Skilled in Loader operation and PC-based plant operation systems.

While a Red Seal certification is not mandatory, any relevant certifications related to asphalt plant operations and OH&S are highly desirable.

Previous experience in plant management, concrete/construction industry, or in a supervisory role is an asset

Degree/Diploma in related sector or relevant experience

Excellent leadership skills and ability to motivate team members

Strong problem solving and analytical skills and the desire to seek solutions

Meeting production deliverables and timelines

Communicating with clients and delivering on agreed upon timelines and deliverables

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Loads and unloads construction supplies to and from flatbeds both manually and with the use of equipment.

Prepares patches to required depth. Hand digs for locates and operates jackhammer when necessary.

Operates a variety of equipment including: hand and power tools, roller, backhoe, etc.

Previous experience is an asset

Good written and verbal communication skills

Conduct soil and asphalt field testing

Complete reports using our customized computer program

Liaise with clients in person and over the phone

Testing soil with a nuclear gauge: 1 year (required)

Computer skills, experience with Microsoft Excel.

Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Asphalt Plant Operator.

Strong math skills and strong mechanical aptitude.

Experience with CMI and Astec plant controls are an asset.

Compile reports regarding plant production and plant maintenance.

Maintain proper heat in dryer and proper flow of materials.
