VistaCare Communications is a leading telecommunications solutions provider for a wide range of businesses and organizations. We are currently seeking a motivated, team player to join our operations in Bedford, NS for a permanent, full-time position as a Yard Labourer. The Yard Labourer is involved in the organization and upkeep of our large yard at our Head Office, transporting large reels and other tools and equipment in vehicles and forklift operation. This role reports to the Warehouse Manager Atlantic Region and supports fleet needs and the maintenance of all tools and equipment.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Complete all forms (i.e. time reports, safety assessments, driver logs) accurately and on time;
  • All upkeeping needed to ensure an organized, clean yard.
  • Load and unload materials/equipment into work areas;
  • Support a safe, friendly, unified, equitable, and non-discriminatory workplace;
  • Maintain clean and safe work sites and vehicles;
  • Maintain tools and equipment, as per company policies and manufacturer specifications
  • Maintain company assets (i.e. tools, equipment, vehicles, etc.) diligently and prevent negligent loss, theft, or damage;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Warehouse Manager;
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies, protocols, and procedures and their proper application for safe and efficient completion of all assignments;
Knowledge And Skills
  • Ability to work continually in a physically demanding atmosphere, must be able to frequently lift and carry 60+ lbs.;
  • Ability to proficiently operate a Forklift;
  • Strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail;
  • Ability to work with exceptional professionalism, interact politely with customers and the public, and demonstrate excellent work ethic;
  • Self-disciplined, motivated, organized, and a team player;
  • Ability to read and understand work orders and blueprints as an asset;
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions, as well as rural, isolated, and wilderness locations;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks.
Experience Required
  • Experience handling and installing fibre optic and copper cables is an asset;
  • General construction knowledge;
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel is considered an asset.
  • Telecommunications infrastructure knowledge is considered an asset;
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to learn, accept challenges, initiative to complete work with minimal oversight within an assigned timeframe, and accept responsibility/ownership for assigned work;
  • Proficient in English (written and verbal);
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract;
  • Willingness to work out of town, overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs, as may be required from time-to-time;
