Job Description


Weighscale Operator


Public Works - Waste Management


Casual (No guarantee of hours)


Contract Duration - 12 Months


Hourly Rate: $23.99


Reporting to the Team Lead, Weighscale Operations you will be responsible for the daily operations, including the start up and shut down of the weighscale, data processing equipment, cash handling and balancing.


What You Will Do In This Role


  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Make appropriate financial transactions.
  • Weigh vehicle contents and direct customers to the appropriate location for disposal.
  • Adhere to pertinent Regional policies and regulations.
  • Create, maintain and distribute end of day reports through proper opening and closing procedures.
  • Deal with customer inquiries and incoming telephone calls.


What The Role Requires


  • Successful completion of a secondary school diploma combined with one (1) year related experience
  • Interpersonal skills to resolve and respond to internal and external clients
  • Valid class "G" Ontario License and daily access to a vehicle
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer equipment required
  • Strong customer service focus with point of sale experience
  • Proven organization skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload effectively
  • Basic bookkeeping, mathematical and computer skills
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered

Location: Various Community Recycling Centers across the Region of Peel


Hours of Work : No guarantee hours of work. Must be available to work weekends. Additional evening availability required May through October.
