We are hiring a VP, Cyber Security for our client, a large privately held organization in Toronto (Etobicoke). With 30+ years in business, ~7,500 staff, and ~30 locations across Canada, this company is a key player in its field. It is also majority owned by a private investment group as it seeks continued growth and expansion.
The team is results-oriented, hard working, and highly skilled. The people are generally relaxed, friendly, and down to earth, with growth mindsets. There is a high level of trust in the team, people know they are doing and perform well without hand-holding, issues are expected to be flagged and actively discussed so that they can be resolved. Management is very supportive and willing to go to battle to ensure the team has what they need to succeed.
With continued investment into the Cyber and Information Security function, this is a newly created position, reporting to the CTO & CCO, and working closely with the VP, IT Operations You will be responsible in leading a team of five information security technical specialists/analysts to maintain support infrastructure in accordance with established standards, and to ensure compliance with IT Security standards while providing support and technology solutions to ensure the protection and integrity of systems. Responsibilities include:
- Accountable for the accuracy of security technology configuration items and documentation relating to the application or system services.
- Support the company's Enterprise Risk management program, ensuring that security and compliance risks are mitigated, and protecting data from compromise.
- Act as liaison for all security and/or business continuity audits, as well as between compliance team, operations team, and regulators to ensure compliance.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and operations IT security standards across multiple sites and lines of businesses.
- Implement process and methods to raise the maturity of security governance and execution.
- Implement data protection and cyber security technologies, and IT security controls.
- Initiate, facilitate, and promote activities to increase the level of information protection awareness within the company.
- Investigate, evaluate, and manage security measures and security related incidents, conduct threat risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and reduce exposure.
- Implement and manage security and overall compliance initiatives.
- Responsible for analyzing, developing, implementing, and enforcing security, privacy and data protection requirements, policies, and corporate technical guidelines.
- Ensure systems, applications, and client programs are designed in accordance with data protection policies, guidelines, and standards.
What you bring:
- 10+ years experience in a hands-on role implementing and supporting cyber security initiatives with focus on business application systems.
- Strong technical/systems security background and a willingness to get "hands-on".
- Knowledge of network operations, controls, and components.
- 10+ years of experience managing an IT / Cyber security team, IT security support/solution delivery team, in a large corporate environment.
- Knowledge/Familiarity with SIEM, DLPs, FWs, SIEMs, Identity Management Solutions, IDS/IPS, Vulnerability Assessment Tools, Internet Security Tools, Router ACLS, Authentication/Radius Server, Multi Factor Authentication, Cryptography, Multi-platform access controls and administration, Cloud Security Controls.
- In depth understanding of IT / Cyber Security technology and standards, cloud technologies, information security policies and risk analysis.
- Relevant education/certifications - CISSP, CISM, CISA, GSEC, CEH, Degree in Technology, Science, or Engineering.
- In depth knowledge of business continuity & disaster recovery concepts, controls, and processes.
- Working knowledge of MS Windows, Linux controls and cloud computing architecture platforms, networks, and firewalls.
We’re offering a competitive salary, with a total compensation package likely sitting in the $300k-$350k range.
