  • Employee stock option plan

  • Employer paid health care benefits after 3 months
  • 3 weeks’ vacation, and paid flex and health days
  • RRSP matching program

What you’ll do

Reporting to the VP, Product Development and working as part of a cross-functional team, the UI/UX Designer is responsible for making our patient-facing mobile application and health-care-provider dashboard intuitive, delightful, and on brand. The successful candidate is capable of empathizing with multiple users that are associated with one another. They believe in working fast and getting feedback early. They are adaptable in a fast-growing startup environment.

This includes:

  • Align with the product management team to conduct user research studies and summarize user feedback into insights
  • Create patterns that are intuitive and practical
  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces
  • Create graphs and charts that provide actionable insights from complex metrics, including metrics derived from AI and ML algorithms, or compiled metrics (metrics made up of a combination of separate but related metrics)
  • Ensure all design work is compliant with branding guidelines and best practices
  • Work across engineering teams to drive your vision to the finish line
  • Outcome oriented mindset for highly aligned, loosely coupled startup environment
  • Perform duties in a manner that is consistent with and committed to upholding the requirements of the quality management system
  • Maintain a clean, and safe working environment
  • Be a self-starter and a jack of all trades, willing to take on new challenges as needed
  • Establish and champion a design language
  • Partner closely with Remote Patient Monitoring (nursing), Sales, and Customer Care teams to understand what each of our diverse user segments need, want, and love about Orpyx
  • Work up and down the stack for every detail of new product features, from idea to UX to pixel-perfect execution, for both websites and mobile applications

Additionally, due to the ever-changing and sometimes chaotic environment of an early-stage high-tech company, the UI/UX Designer may assume additional responsibilities, as required.

What you’ll bring

  • You understand how to tell stories using both words and visuals
  • 3+ (ideally 5+) years of experience in UI/UX design for websites and mobile applications
  • Proficiency in design software such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus
  • You enjoy using data and research to form hypothesis and craft unique, lo-fi testable product experiences
  • Experience working with consumer health, wellness or fitness products is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup environment – comfortable making rational, practical decisions in a never-enough-information environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • You seek to understand the needs of customers and advocate for the strongest user experiences to solve their problems
  • You balance business needs, implications, and practicality against aesthetics – a healthy balance of form and function
  • Bachelor's degree in design, computer science, data science, or a related field
  • You have a strong POV but are outcome oriented
  • A personal belief that there is a better way to deliver healthcare
  • Strong portfolio that showcases a range of design skills; ideally including data visualization of information derived from AI and ML algorithms
