We are Timbre Games (part of the Sumo Digital Group), a new studio in Vancouver, Canada focused on making exciting, innovative game experiences. Timbre’s vision is to change the games industry through the original games we make, as well as how we make them. Timbre’s first Technical Narrative Designer will help to evolve and deepen our narrative systems through the use of our technical tools. They will work closely with Timbre’s internal and external Design, Engineering and Audio teams to build an engaging, memorable, family-friendly ARPG experience for players of all ages.
As a Technical Narrative Designer At Timbre, You Will
  • Work alongside our Lead Narrative Designer to conceive, implement, iterate on, and own interactive technical narrative systems
  • Assist with narrative pacing and implementation of environmental story telling
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to establish a high quality bar for storytelling at Timbre, both for this project and for future games
  • Implement text, dialogue, and voice-over in game
  • Analyze our narrative needs and research, advocate for, and improve the tools we use to deliver our narrative for our players in exciting and impactful ways
What You Bring
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4, 5 or another similar engine
  • Knowledge of story structure and ability to recommend best practices to the team
  • 3+ years of experience within a Narrative Design Role with a focus on technical systems (open to intermediate and above talent for this role)
  • Ability to embrace and engage in a highly collaborative environment
  • Experience owning and maintaining technical narrative systems
You May Also Bring
  • A passion for accessibility in gaming
  • A background in camera work, scene setup, cinematics or Audio would be useful but not required
  • Working knowledge of Unreal 5 is a huge plus!
  • Professional experience working as a writer
