Job Description

Technical Manager

SUMMARY

The Technical Manager is responsible for facilities, equipment and tooling maintenance processes at the Burlington manufacturing plant.Providing tech support to new programs as required.Main areas of responsibility will include:


•Maintenance – Staffing and coaching of department personnel.Maintaining & troubleshooting machines. Developing/improving maintenance workflows and efficiency with respect to PM and TPM systems for production equipment and tooling. Ensuring full compliance to EMS, internal and external safety guidelines.

•New Programs/Project – Liaising with engineering on new programs and providing technical support/resources as required for machine build and installations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

•Provide leadership and guidance to personnel within the maintenance department.

•Identify opportunities and risks with respect to equipment and facilities maintenance, subsequently plan, implement and verify improvement to maintenance processes.

•Effectively implement and maintain Preventive, Predictive and Total Productive Maintenance processes

•Ensure training and competence of staff

•Maintain training matrix and training plans.

•Provide appropriate training to develop personnel within the department

•Staff scheduling and performance monitoring

•Performing root cause investigation of machine failures and implementing effective corrective action.

•Ensure effective documentation of all activities being carried out as per the established procedures and guidelines and ensure safe keeping of all Maintenance related documented information.

•Establish trouble shooting checklists and technical work instructions.

•Department goal setting, measurables and continuous improvement following the PDCA cycle.

•Monitoring, publishing and communication of department KPI’s involving staff

•Control over purchased components and supplies within budget parameters considering cost, service and quality

•Oversee all building needs/repairs.

•Ensure timely reaction to shop-floor issues.

•Utilize a tracking system for spare parts with precise control over on-hand inventory.

•Account for tool room equipment/tools and keep them in good working conditions.

•Maintain an accurate listing of Tools and equipment, with identified Ownership

•Compliance with legislation requirements and Occupational Health & Safety Act.

•Responsible for hiring, developing and reviewing personnel.

•Participate in continuous improvement projects.

•Input, review and participation in Equipment Design review for Maintainability and Reliability

QUALIFICATIONS

•Recognized technical trade certificate or related qualifications in engineering.

•Understand Process Management and Risk based decision making

•Minimum 3 years’ experience in the maintenance supervision / managerial field.

•Strong leadership abilities, excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills and strong technical abilities.

•Capable of diagnosing, troubleshooting and implementing systems.

•Must have knowledge of government and provincial Health & Safety Legislation
