Position Summary


Working as part of the mental health initiative for Ukrainian arrivals under the CUAET visa, the Ukrainian Settlement Coordinator will work as a member of an interagency collaborative with the aim of providing trauma-informed and community based mental health services to adults and families. The Ukrainian Settlement Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining cohesion between partner agencies as well as represent the identified needs of front line staff to the Leadership team. The Coordinator will also communicate updates and changes within the larger settlement community to program staff as well as liaise with additional allied agencies to develop unique program opportunities for this specific

Qualifications


  • Ability to learn and adapt to new computer programs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills [verbal and written]
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of the following: therapeutic/counselling process, crisis intervention and suicide prevention, domestic abuse, mental health and addiction
  • Two years supervised counselling experience
  • Ability to work effectively within a multiagency collaboration including not-for-profit organizations, allied partners within Shared Health, Province of Manitoba and other provincial and federal tables focused on newcomer service provision
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline required; the equivalent education and experience may be considered
  • Robust understanding of issues facing the newcomers and refugees to Canada including relevant laws, government priorities, collaborative networks and social service agencies providing care and support
  • Ability to assess risk in the following areas: Posttraumatic stress, victims of violence, suicide bereavement, domestic abuse, addiction, mental health, child welfare, human trafficking and sexual assault
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and support employees and volunteers
  • Ability to complete accurate and concise documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex narratives and information
  • Strong community development skills including proven experience working with community groups to identify needs and issues
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to issues of diversity
  • Experience in network building, community consultation and advocacy
  • Ability to contribute to a positive team culture
  • Understanding of empowerment based, trauma- informed principles

Completion of ASIST training


Completion of Crisis Worker Certification Exam within one year of hire


SALARY RANGE $29.867 per hour - $38.977 per hour
