Our talented BC Geomatics team is looking for a Survey Crew Chief located in Western Canada to Fly-In Fly-Out to a job site in Inuvik, NWT. We are searching for someone organized and highly collaborative, with strong communication skills and an infectious positivity that impacts and motivates all team members. You also need to have a strong ability to operate equipment and field tools, with a healthy respect for the great outdoors and the timeline of the task at hand.


What you will do:


  • Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned.
  • Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology.
  • Liaise with client field representatives and landowners and be a brand ambassador for GeoVerra.
  • Provide guidance, training and mentorship to Survey Assistants.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology.
  • Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences.
  • Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program.
  • Manage and perform field survey work with the support of Survey Assistants.


What you will bring:


  • Experience of Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning and line locating considered an asset.
  • The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment.
  • An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to produce accurate and legible field notes.
  • Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or an equivalent experience.
  • A valid driver’s license and can provide a clean driver’s abstract; and


Job Conditions:


  • This is a fly in fly out position to Inuvik, NWT on a 3 weeks on, one week off schedule.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to carry, lift and push 50lbs on a regular basis.
