Job Description
Working in the field of real estate, our client is looking for a supervisor of the construction works. The incumbent coordinates and supervises construction, renovation, fit-up or major repairs to buildings according to the mandates assigned to him/her. This person represents the owner during this work, acts as an intermediary between contractors, professionals, sectors and tenants. He or She ensures the administrative follow-up of the sites entrusted to him/her.


Minimum General Knowledge Required


  • Basic computer skills (email, Excel, Word).
  • Education: College diploma in architecture or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of assemblies and typical construction details;
  • Excellent ability to read plans and specifications;
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate and mobilize various stakeholders (contractor, professionals, tenants);
  • Experience: Three years of experience in a comparable position or four years of relevant experience (construction or renovation supervisor, general contractor, supervision of specialized maintenance work, etc.).
  • Excellent knowledge of the techniques used in the construction and renovation of buildings and their components;
  • Ability to write letters, write reports, evaluate costs and lead times, and observe details;
  • Excellent knowledge of administrative processes related to the management of construction works;
  • Excellent knowledge of the management of lump-sum or on-demand public contracts;
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written French, standards and regulations in force in the fields of construction, and techniques of supervision and control of works;


Examples Of Tasks


  • Ensures that contractors are aware of the impact of the work on tenants and/or employees and that they act in a respectful manner towards them. Ensures the sanitation of the premises during and after the work;
  • Updates the work tracking table and other site monitoring tools. Ensures the computer and paper document management related to the work in accordance with established processes;
  • Assists the project director in the preparation of his expertise files or preliminary studies and participates in the three-year programming of work;
  • Participates in submission visits. Validates the contractor's mobilization and ensures coordination with the sector, partners and neighbours;
  • Assists external professionals and coordinates interventions with contracts to be executed on request for the realization of intrusive work or expertise;
  • Coordinates the construction, renovation, modernization, rehabilitation or major repairs. Ensures that contractors respect their contract, the rules of the art, as well as all the standards and regulations in force;
  • Documents issues by producing event reports, writes written communications (e.g. letters, formal notices, etc.) and participates in the performance evaluation of professionals, contractors and suppliers;
  • Ensures compliance with work schedules, as well as the quality of work and materials used in accordance with the contract and the plans and specifications provided. Documents and reports any event or litigation likely to influence the cost or smooth running of the work. Organizes and participates in site meetings. Applies a process of gradation of sanctions and coercive measures provided for in the contract (formal notice, late penalties, credits, etc.) when observing deviations;
  • Organizes and participates in acceptance visits to the work and ensures with contractors that the required corrections are carried out as quickly as possible;
  • Ensures the financial follow-up of each project, makes financial commitments according to the company's accounting charter, verifies payment requests, invoices, establishes the distribution of invoices by accounting items, makes adjustments to purchase orders, ensures compliance with budgets and contingencies, follows up on denunciations and receipts;
  • Conducts audits to validate that contractors are following good practice and the safety code on construction sites to ensure the safety of tenants and the public.
  • Represents the company on various construction sites and with service providers. Documents the progress of the work with photos and reports and validates the minutes of site meetings. Analyzes and approves each change request and amendment and signs site documents (amendments, modification instructions, etc.);
  • Checks and ensures that the end of construction documents are obtained (plans such as constructed, warranties, maintenance books, etc.). Updates equipment lists for service contracts. Conducts end-of-warranty checks and releases holdbacks according to contracts;
  • Ensures, when required, the performance of any other related activity that he or she is reasonably able to perform.
  • Drafts written notices and communicates with stakeholders (sector, liaison officers, tenants, neighbours, partners, etc.) to inform them of work and elements likely to affect them. Informs them of the progress of the site and any changes affecting them, both in terms of the work itself and its impacts and the schedule;

  • Good knowledge of the regulatory framework for construction in Quebec
  • Great responsiveness, analysis and rigor in the management of files
  • Management of priorities
  • Significant experience in the coordination and management of construction projects (suppliers, contracts, schedule monitoring)
  • Fluency in spoken and written French.
  • Very good customer service
  • Great negotiation skills
