Job Summary And Requirements
This is a full time, 1 year TERM position (Temporary assignments will be considered).

The Land Planning Branch collaborates with First Nations, Yukon communities and other government agencies to manage land use in a sustainable and orderly way.
The Land Planning Branch collaborates with First Nations, Yukon communities and other government agencies to manage land use in a sustainable and orderly way.
This position provides analytical research and technical support for a wide variety of planning activities undertaken by the Branch, including representing Branch policies on land-related issues and providing recommendations and planning advice to land-related committees and working groups. The position also promotes and supports the orderly development of land; encourages favourable Community/Territorial relations; and participates in developing and maintaining a legislative, regulatory and policy framework that governs land use and development in the Yukon. Provision of advice to Director, Land Planning, on complex files requiring senior management involvement.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your application clearly demonstrating how you meet the following education and qualifications. Please note that selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your application.
  • Coursework in geography, community, rural or urban Planning/Studies, community development or Design; Environmental Planning or Design; or a related planning field
  • Experience interpreting, analyzing and/or implementing legislation and regulations such as the Subdivision Act, Area Development Act, First Nations land claims, and other land and resources management policies
  • Experience evaluating, reviewing and undertaking analytical research related to the review of subdivision applications or other land related applications
  • Experience analyzing, reviewing, preparing and issuing legal documents associated with the subdivision or disposition of land
  • Ability to interpret air photos, topographic and thematic maps, and survey plans.
Candidates who have education, training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications may be equally considered.

In addition to the essential qualifications listed above, candidates should have and may be assessed on:
  • Must understand and interpret legislation, policies and regulations related to planning, zoning and development
  • Detail oriented and can produce high quality work
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills,
  • Ability to work in a client service oriented environment
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and build consensus.
Job Requirements
This position requires a willingness to travel throughout the Yukon and a valid class 5 driver’s license.
