Job Description

As the Underdog studio manager, you are the first face many of our clients will see behind our desk, and you are the person behind the scenes making sure it all runs smoothly. In addition to managing the front desk, day to day operations of the studio, you will assist with the execution of marketing campaigns. You’ll use our playbooks to ensure consistency and reliability for our customers and team. This position is full time at 30 hours per week.

You are:

  • Excellent at helping people see the path from where they are to where they want to be. You're a natural "solver" and good at connecting the dots.
  • Reliable. If you say you’ll do something, you follow through. If you’re not 10 minutes early, you’re late. You don’t need to be asked twice for anything.
  • Passionate about dance. You want to help people fall in love with dance with thoughtful, thorough care.
  • Positive, outgoing, and able to talk to anyone. You love to educate and you're great with names + stories. Your secret superpower is making people feel seen and valued.
  • Uber-organized. You love having 10 balls in the air and never letting a single one drop, largely thanks to your ability to follow or create systems.
  • Resourceful. You can think on your feet and come up with solutions that balance the needs of the business with the desires of the customer.
  • Available on evenings and weekends

We are:

  • Inclusive and encouraging. We are a boutique dance studio built on a foundation of community and care, and our clients see this place as a second home.
  • Tenacious. We survived 6 months of lockdowns in our first year of operation, and have developed a spirit of resilience and resourcefulness. We are looking for candidates who share that fire.
  • A community of amazing, positive, and fun women + men. We support each other, love to laugh, and celebrate the benefits of dance and community.
  • Flexible and results-oriented in all we do -- not just our classes. We like looking at the numbers and optimizing our processes, offerings, and marketing to meet the needs of this community.
  • Checking to see if you read things thoroughly: send us an email with the subject line of “Hey Underdog I want to work for you” when you apply so we know you pay attention to the details.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the sales lead for the studio: Track leads and follow-up to sell introductory packages, educate prospects and trial members and convert them to full memberships, and retain existing members through superb customer experience.
  • Hire, train, and supervise front desk staff to support you in the above.
  • Manage the retail boutique: Maintain inventory, design and order custom apparel, and merchandise the boutique to help move stock.
  • Provide marketing support: Help plan and execute special events, manage in-studio sales, update weekly announcements in-studio, and help support marketing initiatives as needed. There is lots of potential for growth in the marketing aspects of this role, and marketing experience is a huge plus.
  • Manage the studio schedule: Monitor the schedule to be sure we are meeting customer needs and optimizing our hours, and make sure all vacation/class swaps are covered. Create classes, courses and workshops in our scheduling software.
  • Provide outstanding service to every client: Execute our intentional processes to help match each client with the perfect membership and class schedule to meet their needs.
  • Ensure the studio remains immaculately clean and fully stocked

Education and Experience:

  • Square Merchant Terminal
  • Familiarity with any of the following are a huge asset:
  • Eventbrite
  • MindBody Online, WellnessLiving, Momence, or Punchpass
  • Canva

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Extended health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Base salary plus commission based on experience and results.
  • Free studio membership
  • 30% off retail
  • Continuing Education Opportunities
  • Fitness casual attire
  • 2 weeks paid time off
