Strathcona Paper LP produces and markets high quality paper based specialty products and services, located in Napanee, Ontario. We are currently recruiting for the following full-time position


Stock Preparation Supervisor


Position Summary


The Stock Preparation Supervisor, is responsible for supervising the Stock Preparation operation on assigned shifts by overseeing the work completed by employees and troubleshooting problems that occur. Ensures that the company meets and exceeds long and short term production target of quality boxboard that meets the customer’s needs


Principal Functions


Oversee the paper production and manufacturing processes in the Mill by supervising employees, scheduling their activities and providing direction. Ensures that the stock preparation production process is operating efficiently at all times and that production rates and products meet standards.


Coordinates the crew training with the Stock Preparation Superintendent, and Human Resources Scheduling & Benefits Coordinator to ensure standardized training occurs across all shifts. This includes updating the training modules, conducting audits and quality checks on the training implementation, execution of our training program for operators and administers training tests, conducts the theory training and works with the hourly trainers to ensure a consistent training approach is administered on all shifts


Troubleshoots immediate problems in stock preparation production processes by identifying the reasons for the problems and giving instructions for corrective action to be taken. In identifying problems must constantly inspect end products, system and equipment functioning, rates of operation, test and analysis reports and speak to individuals representing various areas of the Mill.


Scope of Responsibility


Reports to the Stock Preparation Superintendent and directly supervises 4 employees on shift.


Qualifications


The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial setting coupled with two years of supervisory experience and a diploma or degree in the field of pulp and paper science, chemical or industrial engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferably in paper manufacturing. Must possess good understanding of paper making including an in depth understanding of all procedures and processes, equipment, chemicals, fiber and how all aspects are inter-connected.
