Sr. Software Developer (Java)

We are looking for a Sr. Java Developer for a global organization with the following responsibilities:

• Provide effort estimates for assigned components
• Design, implement, unit test assigned components of the product and integrate with components developed by other team members
• Help drive a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement
• Align with System Testers, Support Specialists and Business Analysts to ensure consistency with requirements/use cases
• Understand Stakeholder Requirements and overall product architecture
• Participate in Software Development process improvement activities and recommend changes
• Create proof of concepts (PoCs) to validate design assumptions
• Resolve problems arising during various phases of the development

Skills and Experience:

• Solid experioence with J2EE Application Servers preferably WebSphere or JBoss
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. Master’s Degree preferred
• Experience with RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server) technology using Hibernate in the persistence layer including performance tuning
• Experience with Integrated Development Environment (IntelliJ or Eclipse)
• 5+ years of experience with Java technologies and frameworks (EJB, JMS, JMX, Servlet, Design Patterns, Wicket, Web Services, Ajax, Spring, REST Services, Maven, JUnit)
• Experience with industry standard version control and defect management tools (TFS or Git)

• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for delivering high quality software required.
• Experience with Banking, Currency industries an asset
• Strong object oriented analysis, design and development skills
• Ability to handle high pressure in a professional manner
• Utilizes sound judgment in dealing with business information
• Good understanding of software development methodologies (Agile and Waterfall)
• A self-starter who can co-ordinate with a team, yet work independently towards a common goal
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills with distributed multi-tier applications
• Able to focus on key deliverables in a fast-paced development environment
• Self-motivated and self-disciplined
• Flexibility to work long hours as necessary
