Job Description

Summary:

Join USEC Club as a Software Engineering Intern and gain invaluable hands-on experience while pursuing your studies. This part-time (10 hours per week) internship opportunity is tailored to UofT students looking to enhance their software engineering skills in a real-world context. As an intern, you'll contribute to meaningful projects, utilizing your expertise in JavaScript, Python, Data Structures, HTML, and CSS. This role offers the chance to build a strong foundation in software development, collaborate with a dynamic team, and earn official Co-Curricular Record (CCR) credit on your transcript.


Start and End Dates:

The fall internship is scheduled to run from September 18 to November 20, spanning 10 weeks and concluding a month prior to the exam season.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure software quality and functionality.
  • Collaborate with the development team to design, develop, and test software solutions.
  • Work closely with mentors to develop coding skills and adapt to industry best practices.
  • Assist in the creation and optimization of data structures and algorithms for efficient software performance.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of user experience by implementing effective front-end designs.
  • Implement and maintain web applications using JavaScript, Python, HTML, and CSS.

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm to learn and adapt to new technologies and programming languages.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, Data Structures, HTML, and CSS.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for software engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Typescript, React, MongoDB, and Flask.
  • Strong interest in expanding skills and knowledge in software development.
  • Prior experience with web development projects or personal coding projects.
