Skilled Labourers (Ns) Jobs

Matrix is hiring local Skilled Labourers for a large project in Halifax, NS. The pay rate is $28/hr with the potential for overtime. Our client has been building quality vessels for over 50 years and has been at the forefront of Canadian shipbuilding for over 130 years.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting others wherever assistance is needed
• General cleaning of shops, facilities, projects and anywhere else needed
• Help with setting up for specified work on a vessel or in the shop
• Surface preparation & Coating (i.e. Solvent Cleaning, Hand Tool Cleaning, Power Tool Cleaning, and Power Tool Cleaning to Bare Metal)
• Assisting in docking and undocking vessels
• Helping with care and preservation, performing fire watch and confined watch duties
• Preparing and applying a coating

Qualifications

• Must be able to wear respiratory protection as required
• Full PPE+Fit Tested Respirator Mask
• Physical effort and work conditions: Able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb
• You must be eligible to work in Canada to apply for this job
• Frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to fifty (50lbs) pounds
• Problem-solving skills required
• Occasionally lift and carry items that weigh over fifty (50lbs) pounds
• A pre-employment Government Security Clearance/background check will need to be completed
• Must be capable of working at heights from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms and in extreme confined spaces
