Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview


The Support Service Worker is responsible to provide services to patients, staff and community partners of Selkirk Mental Health Centre including a clean environment, food service, porter/ laundry services, supply replenishment, equipment maintenance, transportation and security.


Experience


  • Experience in pick-up/ delivery.
  • Experience working in housekeeping and food service in a healthcare or directly related environment is an asset.
  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience in a housekeeping/cleaning environment.
  • Experience in a food handling environment (knowledge of food preparation and safety)


Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)


  • Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.


Certification/Licensure/Registration


  • Valid Class 5 Manitoba Drivers License is desired.


Qualifications And Skills


  • Ability to prioritize daily work/competing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of food preparation and equipment is essential.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • May be required to add/update building inventory.
  • Ability to work safely (safe operation of equipment).
  • Satisfactory attendance record will be a factor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on own and within in a team is essential.
  • May be required to relieve for the cook.
  • Knowledge of cleaning practices and equipment is essential.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Must be willing and able to work with patients at SMHC.


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to work in plating assembly at a constant, average pace.
  • Must be physically able to do heavy lifting or carrying, work on feet for eight (8) hour shifts, work at heights and/or in varying environmental conditions (inside, outside, high humidity) and work varying shifts and weekends including statutory holidays.
  • Physically capable of manual labour (heavy and intensive at times).
