Senior Tax Analyst Jobs

We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Analyst to join our Just Energy Tax Team. Reporting directly to the Tax Manager, the Senior Tax Analyst will have primary responsibility over the US Sales and Use Tax Compliance Process. Specifically, the role will be responsible for regular US Sales Tax filings and reporting and assist with special projects as required. This individual requires an experienced professional looking to advance their career in industry with the aptitude to learn and challenge themselves in a fast-paced environment with the ability to be proactive and work both independently and as part of team.
Responsibilities:

• Reconcile monthly sales tax general ledger accounts and follow up on reconciling items to ensure activity and balances appropriately reflect the Company’s tax position and status
• Provide oversight of sales tax payments and estimates communicated to Treasury
• Assisting with short and long-term forecasting of tax expense and cash tax payments
• Ensuring appropriate internal controls are in place over the US Sales Tax Process
• Proactively support the management of tax audits and assessments by performing technical analysis and gathering supporting documentation in support of the audit process
• Providing business analysis and work on special projects as requested.
• Responsible to ensure US Sales and Use tax compliance by preparing and analyzing all monthly filings and calculating tax payments specific to each jurisdiction
• Staying up to date on developments in relevant tax legislation that impacts the organizational structure and customer product deliverables

Requirements:

• University degree in business or related discipline
• 5+ years of financial analysis and/or accounting experience
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills in order to communicate complex tax issues, analysis and conclusions internally to technical and managerial audiences
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Prior Sales and Use tax experience preferred but not required
