Job Description

Start Date: October 2, 2023

Contract: 2 years + optional 2 years (1 year is approximately 220 Day)

Budget: 140$/hour

Security Level: Valid Secret Clearance

Work Location: DND Facilities in Kingston ( may be remotely based on DND authority’s approval)

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

·10 years’ experience as a System Administrator (System administration is defined as maintaining, configuring, deploying and troubleshooting commercial grade network devices (Switches, Routers etc).

·2 years’ experience as a Network Administrator (within for the last 5 years)

·3 years’ administration or management experience within the past 60 months with Microsoft Windows Server ecosystem (within for the last 5 years)

·1 years’ VMWare ecosystem to host or managing teams that host virtualized server clusters across physical devices. (within for the last 5 years)

Technical Environment

The TNOC and related C2 software platform technical environment to be supported uses the following technologies and standards, but are not limited to the following: 4.1.1 Current or recent Microsoft Windows Server ecosystem;

4.1.2 Microsoft Windows 10 client workstation software;

4.1.3 VMware virtualization software;

4.1.4 Custom LCSS application software;

4.1.5 Network security systems (firewalls);

4.1.6 Enterprise antivirus servers and clients;

4.1.7 Web based application architecture;

4.1.8 Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

4.1.9 Virtual Private Networking (VPN) appliances and transmission layer protocols;

4.1.10 Network Traffic, Netflow management systems and software; and

4.1.11 Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) v2 & v3 Agent and Management Station Systems.

Tasks

5.2.1 Consult with users and evaluate requirements, recommend designs, provide cost Analyzes, plan projects, and coordinate tasks for installation of data networks;

5.2.2 Analyze, design, implement and manage current or recent Microsoft Windows Server ecosystem datacenters to include (but not limited to): a. Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM);

b. Microsoft Active Directory Service and LDAP systems

c. Group Policy Systems including GPOs and Microsoft Management Console

d. Microsoft Distributed File System and file access/permissions management

e. Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft Outlook Client Software

f. Microsoft SharePoint Application Server (backend)

g. Microsoft SharePoint Site Administration (frontend)

h. Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise Client OS

i. Commercial datacenter backup systems and software

5.2.3 Analyze, design, implement and manage geographic data and information;

5.2.4 Analyze, implement and manage virtualized server environments in current or recent VMWare ecosystem through both GUI and command line functions

5.2.5 Analyze, design, implement and manage network security policies in accordance with GoC IS Security Policies

5.2.6 Analyze, design, implement and manage enterprise antivirus/endpoint security servers and clients

5.2.7 Deploy software packages to devices through SCCM

5.2.8 Monitor networks and NetFlows and recommend ways to optimize traffic

5.2.9 Troubleshoot and resolve production network and server problems;

5.2.10 Work with vendors to resolve complex network and server problems;

5.2.11 Perform help desk/desktop support functions to all other LCCS(U) admins

5.2.12 Provide level 2 support to local and remote exercise support system administrators;

5.2.13 Provide network documentation, training, and guidance to network support staff;

5.2.14 Perform problem and incident documentation and management functions using provided software;

5.2.15 Create and monitor change request, and service request for local and remote sites;

5.2.16 Provide quality control management and risk assessment;

5.2.17 Conduct technical research and make recommendations on system and component upgrades for short-, medium-, and long-range projects;

5.2.18 Assist in developing Statements of Capability Deficiency (SCD), Statement of Requirements (SOR), Statements of Work (SOW) and Project Implementation Plans as required;

5.2.19 Develop implementation plans for new capabilities, hardware, and software;

5..20 Attend and participate in organizational meetings, as required; and

5.2.21 Perform other system administration functions, as required.

5.3 System Administrator Level 3 Resource must perform , without being limited to, all tasks listed under 5.2 (System Administrator Level 2 tasks) and the following tasks:

5.3.1 Provide quality control management and risk assessment;

5.3.2 Provide network documentation, training, and guidance to network support staff;

5.3.3 Provide level 3 support to local and remote exercise support system administrators;

5.3.4 Guide and assists instructors with training;

5.3.5 Prepare and support the delivery of Cisco Networking Academy Courses at CFSCE;

5.3.6 Develop, prepare and administer TacNet Sys Admin Course; and

5.3.7 Provide guidance, direction and mentorship to System Administrator Level 2.
