THE OPPORTUNITY


Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking a highly-motivated and enthusiastic Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst to join a well-established team of environmental professionals. This position can be based out of any of our Alberta or BC office locations.


The Senior FP&A Analyst will provide financial expertise to executives in Finance, Sales, Operations and Business Development. As a key strategic partner, the Analyst will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, variance reporting and analysis of revenue streams and operating costs. The Analyst will collaborate across the entire organization and will have the opportunity to help inform and develop strategic business initiatives. They will also help in any potential merger and acquisition opportunities that Triton is considering. The Analyst will work closely with different areas of the business to develop an expertise in internal processes required as the Triton begins implementation of a new ERP system. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Identifying and investigating monthly and quarterly variances to budget and forecast, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and potential risks
  • Providing recommendations for enhancing standard methodologies surrounding corporate planning, forecasting, KPI’s, reporting and analytical infrastructure.
  • Supporting the Executive team in setting strategic objectives through the provision of forward-looking financial analysis and insights
  • Creating and maintaining complex financial models and dashboards that effectively communicate findings and business recommendations to key stakeholders
  • Responding to ad-hoc requests as needed
  • Providing recommendations to enable the Company’s financial operating model to be more efficient, scalable, intuitive and to integrate with the Company’s new ERP more efficiently
  • Performing financial analysis and reporting on KPIs and key business drivers including sales trends, product profitability and operating costs
  • Implementing best practices and processes to guard data integrity
  • Identifying opportunities and assisting in the automation of processes and standardization of reporting requests.
  • Key strategic partner leading the team through the 5-year plan, annual operating budget, and monthly reforecasts


Skills And Qualifications


  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or related field
  • Superior knowledge of Excel and financial modelling
  • Ability to problem solve and seek out solutions
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial analysis concepts, practices, processes, and procedures
  • Excellent communications skills (both written and oral)
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple complex projects
  • Flexible team player who’s comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Power BI (or similar BI dashboard tool) and SQL experience is considered an asset
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in FP&A
  • Demonstrated ability in building relationships across the organization and drive cross-functional results
  • 5+ years of related business experience
  • CPA and/or MBA would be considered an asset
