Job Summary
The Senior Economist is responsible for the analysis and measuring the impact of the Ontario government and OMA proposals, income, practice environment and initiatives on physician services, particularly those related to OMA negotiations and physician contracts with the Ontario government.
How You Will Make a Difference
  • Maintaining and managing datasets used in economic analysis, cleaning and updating data, inputting missing data, ensuring data and definition standardization and consistency, maintaining awareness of new external or third party data sources as they become available.
  • Preparing reports, presentations, and visualizations for various departments, committees, and other stakeholders, presenting results and explaining findings of statistical analysis, and providing recommendations that influence committee decisions and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Conducting research in health economics to support the strategic goals of the organization, which could directly or indirectly influence the operation and policies of the association. The research and analysis conducted also complements the department’s activities in support of the associations negotiating committees.
  • Responding to queries on data, methodologies used, data interpretations and validity/feasibility of conclusions drawn, working with other departments, domain experts, member stakeholders, and OMA committees to address concerns and resolve issues.
Requirements That Are Important To Us
  • Two to five years’ relevant experience
  • Master’s Degree in Economics, Statistics or equivalent, PhD preferred
  • Strong knowledge of data analysis and manipulation software in SAS, STATA, Tableau and
  • Experience with other software such as Excel, Powerpoint and equivalents.
The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
