SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Hartlepool

Start Date: September, 2023

Salary: £76 - £110 per day

Time: 8.30 am- 3.30 pm

GSL education are currently seeking SEN Teaching Assistants to work with secondary students at specialist SEN schools in Hartlepool. The schools provide high-quality education and support for children with special educational needs, including those with Autism and SEMH. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of these children, helping them to reach their full potential and achieve their goals.

Responsibilities

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Encourage pupil participation in whole-School life, including extra-curricular activities.
• Assist individual pupils or across a class with other support assistants.
• Help learners understand lessons and educational activity delivered by the teacher. 
• Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, following lesson outcomes planned by the class teacher.
• Support the social and emotional needs of children and young people.
• Ensure a good relationship with parents and colleagues to create a protective environment so that children feel safe.

Requirements:

To Be Considered For This Role, You Must

• Be empathetic with good listening skills and have good problem-solving abilities.
• Hold a qualification in health and social care, which is preferable.
• Have a passion for learning and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Have a solid understanding of SEN, mainly Autism and SEMH.
• Be willing to assist with basic healthcare practices.

The ideal candidate will:

• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to go through the process with us)
• ECT’s are welcome to apply
• A full checkable work history
• Be proactive, energetic, kind and caring.
• Be available for work Monday to Friday
