Overview


Reporting to the Senior Property Manager, the Security Guard is responsible for the safety and security of a mixed-used Centurion owned and operated apartment community in Edmonton, Alberta.


The Security Guard is accountable for ensuring Residents’ Safety and assisting current and prospective Residents after office hours to achieve optimum value for Centurion Property Associates Inc.


Responsibilities


Relationship Development


Develop and foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure proactive timely resolution of all current and prospective Resident inquiries.


Customer Service


Professionally and courteously handle all current and prospective Resident inquiries, feedback, complaints or concerns that pertain to safety, and escalate any concerns to the Senior Property Manager. Ensure a high level of Resident satisfaction is achieved through constant and consistent attention to Centurion’s Vision, Mission and Values. Promote a strong sense of community.


Ongoing Operations


Answer all current and prospective Resident inquiries received after hours and communicate any issues to the Senior Property Manager within 24 hours. Assist with Resident move-ins that occur after office hours. Assist with Resident issues that arise during shifts including but not limited to key FOB’s not working and Resident noise complaints. Conduct regular security rounds and patrolling of the building. Ensure that anyone who is not a Centurion Resident does not enter the building and is promptly removed when necessary. Acting as a first responder when responding to emergencies as they arise and/or occur and ensuring that all potential safety hazards are appropriately contained. Reaching out to the local police when necessary to have unauthorized parties removed from the premises. Inform the Senior Property Manager of any deficiencies or problems noted in the buildings or properties that require attention. Responding to emergencies as they arise and/or occur in a timely manner.


Administration and Reporting


Maintain an orderly desk area and complete general clerical duties, including photocopying, scanning, and faxing documents. Complete other duties and tasks as assigned by the Senior Property Manager.


Requirements


  • 1-2 years demonstrated security/surveillance experience;
  • Possess a valid Alberta Security license, or have the ability to obtain a valid Alberta Security license;
  • Current certification in First Aid considered an asset;
  • Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points;
  • Forward thinking with an ability to develop creative strategic solutions to issues; and
  • A passion for excellence in customer service delivery;
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to multi-task;
  • Detail-oriented; able to resolve problems using facts, sound reasoning and common sense;
  • Education in related field of study considered an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Strong follow-up skills with the ability to effectively resolve difficult issues in a timely manner.
  • Highly motivated;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Knowledge of other languages considered an asset;
  • Maintains environment by monitoring the property;
