Screen Cleaner Jobs

GFL Environmental is looking for a full time Screen Cleaner to help with operations at our North York Location. Main responsibilities include cleaning jammed screens to ensure material runs through system efficiently. Key Responsibilties:

• Temperature - dress according to the weather as there is no climate control at work station.
• Other duties as assigned with operational changes
• Assist operations with clearing of jams or other duties as required
• Communicate with Senior Management, administrative, supervisory and plant staff as required.
• Responsible for cleaning the equipment such as Paper Screens by cutting off plastics and debris wrapped around them
• Provide and/or participate in training as required.
• Work with a small group to tackle housekeeping/cleaning duties around the plant to prevent slip/trip hazards
• Comply with company rules, federal and provincial regulations as well policies as stated in the Employee Manual. Knowledge, Skills, Competencies:
• Noise - Hearing protection will be provided to you and must be worn at all times. Decibel readings posted in each work area.
• Dusty environment - dust masks must be worn properly at all times
• Ergonomic issues - strains could result from work station design. Speak to your supervisor with regards to "stands" to use while working and discuss any discomforts you may experience.
• The use of personal cell phones and any other electronic equipment is not allowed.
• Monitor system for deficiencies in assigned areas
• Long hair must be confined as per Occupational Health and Safety Act Section 83 (1) when required to enter the plant.
• The wearing of jewelry (i.e. rings, watches, necklaces and dangling ear rings) is not allowed in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act Section 83 (2) when required to enter the plant.
