Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Respiratory Therapist to join the Outpatient Respiratory team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!


As a Respiratory Therapist at Vancouver Coastal Health you will


  • Demonstrate expertise and leadership in respiratory practice.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment.
  • Consult, confer and collaborate with other health care providers.
  • Under minimal supervision perform pulmonary functions and technical procedures related to assisting physician with bronchoscopy, set up equipment in labs, administer a variety of tests and monitor client/patient responses.
  • Maintain and advance clinical competence.
  • Participate on designated Hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
  • Provide respiratory care to assigned clients/patients both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the client/family.


Education & Experience


  • Successful completion of the Health Professionals Testing Canada Credentialing Exam.
  • Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists and BC Society of Respiratory Therapists.
  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • One years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work direction.
  • Demonstrated skill in techniques appropriate to the clinical area.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and deal effectively with clients and their families, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of outside agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess client responses to care, and to respond appropriately.
  • Demonstrated skill in performing CPR.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict situations.
  • Broad knowledge of current respiratory theory and practice within a client/family centred model for care.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the department policy and procedure manual.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Broad knowledge of the BCSRT clinical practice guidelines.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to carry out the duties of the job.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement plans of care in relation to client/family priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new and unexpected events.
  • Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized patient care system.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of medical equipment and supplies appropriate to the clinical area.


The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.


As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Booking Clerk to join the Medical Imaging Clerical Support team at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody, BC. Apply today to join our team!


As a Booking Clerk working with a Medical Imaging department you will
  • Filing requisitions for all bookings, and acting as receptionist to support the delivery of patient care and to ensure client/family needs are met above all other concerns.
  • Performs scheduling and booking functions for a variety of patient appointments for designated areas within Radiology.
  • Preparing and confirming patient information,
  • Rearranging schedules to meet changing demands/requests,
  • Entering booking, patient and image/film information into radiology and hospital computerized and/or manual booking and patient information systems,
  • Locating applicable images/films prior to appointments,
  • Supports the Medical Imaging team by performing duties such as
  • Making follow up appointments,
  • Arranging times with patients, doctor's offices, nursing units, physicians, technical staff and surgical/medical daycare,


Education & Experience


  • Grade 12, two (2) years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience


Require casual applicants to be fully available. Will not consider candidates with full time jobs.


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to keyboard at 40 wpm.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.

  • Ability to organize work.
