Key Qualifications:


  • Proficiency in computer Windows software applications, Zoom/Microsoft Teams and hospital information system – Epic (preferred).
  • Experienced in the management of enteral and parenteral nutrition support
  • Effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize practice based research to ensure excellence in the provision of nutritional care.
  • Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario is required
  • Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and a Dietetic Internship, or Master's or Diploma practicum program
  • Two years recent experience with established clinical skills in an inpatient acute care setting
  • Completion of Dietitians of Canada Critical Care Nutrition Therapy course preferred
  • Established clinical skills in nutritional management of medical and complex patients
  • Reliable, flexible, creative, self-directed professional, able to work effectively and collaboratively within a high paced team environment


Position Summary:


  • Educate patients and family members
  • Participate in interprofessional patient care teams
  • Be responsible for the delivery of evidenced-based, equitable and patient-centered medical nutrition therapy to general medicine patients of a diverse population
  • Complete daily workload statistics
  • Act as a coach/mentor/consultant using sound critical thinking skills to achieve patient outcomes
  • Provide screening and assessment, contribute to care plan development, establish goal oriented treatment interventions, patient/family education and provide support to address nutritional needs
  • As a member of the inter-disciplinary team, you will be responsible to provide coverage on all adult inpatient units at CVH during the unit dietitians’ vacation or absence, or as needed
  • Work collaboratively with the inter-professional team
  • Act as a preceptor for dietetic interns and other students as required
  • Prioritize patient caseload based on hospital standards
  • Provide quality nutrition care in relation to the patient's diagnosis, treatment plan, age, and nutrition status in a fast paced inpatient setting
