Purchasing Supervisor - Calgary, AB


Summary:


AGAT Laboratories is hiring a Purchasing Supervisor to be based out of our Calgary corporate office. This is a critical leadership role in which the successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day activities and supervision of the Purchasing team.


Additionally, in this position, one will be functioning and implementing strategic sourcing process, data and spend analysis, negotiations, contracts and oversee the RFP process.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for supporting operations with sound and accurate purchasing schedules on a regular basis.
  • Establish and maintain purchasing procedures including thorough analysis of potential suppliers and annual review of existing suppliers, you will also review costs, quality, delivery, and other pertinent factors.
  • Working with key internal company personnel in order to establish sound and effective purchasing strategies.
  • Building relationships with preferred vendors.
  • Other tasks as reasonably expected.
  • Serves as a resource to senior management/departments in matter relating to purchasing procedures, expense reduction initiatives, value analysis, and contract negotiations.
  • Responsible for managing, coaching and mentoring the purchasing department and refining cost efficient practices and procedures.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in business or related diploma/certification.
  • Accreditation/membership with a supply chain management body (e.g. SCMA\SCMP) considered an asset.
  • 4+ years of experience in supply chain management, preferable in a large organization.
  • Ability to multi task and work in a deadline driven environment
  • 2+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Excellent negotiating skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Intermediate+).
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Solid track record of meeting substantial material cost reduction targets.
  • Prior experience in evolving a purchasing team to a procurement team.
  • Previous experience with SpendMap or purchase tracking software is considered an asset.


Work Environment:


This position requires a person to sit for prolonged periods of time in an office setting. Manual dexterity is required to perform this position.
